Landscaping & Planting

Installed to live, not just to look good on day one. Plants chosen for Virginia clay, deer pressure, and the way your property actually drains.

Installation and renovation

Whether it is a new bed around a patio, foundation plantings for a new build, or renovating twenty year old landscaping that has outgrown the house, the process is the same: understand the property first, then plant what will thrive there. Having an arborist in the company means trees and large shrubs get placed where they belong at full size, not where they look cute in a nursery pot.

What we install and maintain

  • Trees and shrubs suited to Piedmont clay and local deer pressure.
  • Bed design and edging that define the property.
  • Sod installation for instant lawn where seed will not do.
  • Hedge planting and trimming, screens and privacy rows.
  • Landscape renovations: removing the overgrown, saving the worth-saving, replanting the rest.

The homestead standard applies

Beds cut clean, mulch at the right depth and off the trunks, plants set at correct grade, and the site left spotless. Then the annual lawn program keeps the turf around the new landscape just as healthy.

Questions we hear a lot

When is the best time to plant trees and shrubs here?
Fall is best in Northern Virginia: warm soil grows roots while the plant is dormant up top, and winter rain establishes it before summer. Spring is second best. Summer installs can work with a real watering commitment.
Can you fix the landscaping the builder installed?
A lot of our renovation work is exactly that: builder-grade shrubs planted too close to the house and each other, now overgrown. We save what fits, remove what does not, and replant for the mature size of each plant.
