Tree Removal

Big trees come down safely, or they come down expensively. We are the first kind: certified, careful, and your property is left clean and undisturbed.

Removal done the arborist way

Anyone with a chainsaw can drop a tree in an open field. The trees people actually call about lean over roofs, driveways, fences, and power drops. Those come down in pieces, on ropes, in a planned sequence. That is the work we do, with an ISA Certified Arborist (MA-5911A) on the job reading the tree before anyone starts a saw.

We take down dead ash, storm-cracked oaks, overgrown silver maples crowding houses, and everything in between, across Gainesville, Haymarket, Bristow, and the surrounding area.

What a removal includes

  • An honest assessment first. Some trees people want removed can be saved with pruning or cabling for less money. We will tell you which is which.
  • Controlled dismantling with ropes and rigging where structures are in range.
  • Full cleanup. Wood hauled or bucked to firewood length, brush chipped, the lawn raked. Our standard is that the property looks better than when we arrived.
  • Stump options. Cut low, or ground below grade so you can replant. See stump grinding.

Storm damage

After Northern Virginia wind and ice storms we clear downed trees and hanging limbs, prioritizing anything on a structure or blocking a driveway. If a storm has made your property unsafe, call (571) 921-2728 and send photos by text so we can triage fast.

Questions we hear a lot

How much does tree removal cost in Northern Virginia?
It depends on the size of the tree, what it can reach if something goes wrong, and how hard it is to get equipment to it. A small open-yard tree and a large oak over a roof are very different jobs. Estimates are free, and a text with photos usually gets you a fast, accurate answer.
Do I need the county’s permission to remove a tree on my property?
For most single family residential lots in Prince William County, removing a tree on your own property does not require a permit. HOAs are a different story, and many around Gainesville and Haymarket have tree rules. We can help you document why a removal is justified.
Can you tell me if my tree actually needs to come down?
Yes, and sometimes the honest answer is no. Pruning, cabling, or simply monitoring can be the better call. A certified arborist looks at every removal request, and the 60 second tree check on our home page is a good place to start.
Do you haul everything away?
Cleanup is part of the job: brush chipped, wood removed or left cut for firewood if you want it, and the area raked. On large removals we leave the site as clean and undisturbed as possible.
